ENERGO OPTIMUM – common tool for attaining energy efficiency of cross border region
Current situation in energy efficiency of cross border region, according to the conducted analyses, is lying well behind existing potentials.
Based on the objectives of national guidelines and European strategies, the situation can be improved upon and goals reasonably achieved.
Since the region, is also characterized with a to high energy consumption, there exist an urging need, to systematize the actions to resolve the problem. In this way we may attain the goals of reducing greenhouse gases emissions and in the process contribute to the protection of environment.
Project is focusing on three target groups:
- Households;
- Public administration – public sector;
- Business sector.
The results will be disseminated to a broader public; households of all four regions, public administrations, namely the representatives of municipalities – mayors, management of municipalities and random companies involved.
Project is in accordance with following European guidelines or directives:
- EU Directive on improved efficiency of end energy and energy services;
- Action plan for energy efficiency;
- Green book: European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy;
- Green book: Do more with less;
- Lisbon Strategy;
- Gothenburg Strategy.
Project objectives are:
- reducing greenhouse gases emissions for at least 20% until 2020 and achieving energy savings of 20% until 2020;
- Increasing the share of renewable energy sources for 20% till 2020.
The main objective of Lisbon Strategy is sustainable development of energetic. Technological and industrial development enables economic growth and new jobs/workplaces. The main objective of Gothenburg treaty is to foster potentials for reducing CO2 emissions.
On the national level is the project harmonized with:
- National action plan for energy efficiency 2008-2016 (reducing final energy use until 2016 by 9%);
- National energetic program NEP (rising the energy efficiency in all sectors by 10% and by 15% in public sector);
- Operational program of reducing greenhouse gasses until 2012.
Regionally/locally is the project harmonized with Energy vision of Pomurje for period 2007-2013 in field of energy efficiency and with Regional development program of region Pomurje 2007-2013.
The ERDF co-financing added value:
- Increasing local energy sustainability of cross border region,
- Improving the regions living standard,
- Improving air quality of cross border region,
- Rising the importance of lifelong learning and trainings,
- Releasing additional capital in public and business sector aimed at investments.
